This song is about what autism really is. If you think autism automatically makes a person disabled, you are wrong. If you think autism is a mental disorder, you are wrong. It is neurological. In other words, it makes an individual person's brain function in a way most other human beings' brains would not function. The way autism makes an individual human being's brain function is not black or white. It always has its own unique way of functioning. If you are diagnosed with autism, something to always remember is that your autism will be what you make of it. I knew I was diagnosed with autism ever since I was 9 years old. Throughout my preteen years and most of my teenage years, I was ashamed of being autistic. If you are autistic, your autism is what makes you who you are as an individual human being. With that being said, I was ashamed of who I was as a person throughout my preadolescence and most of my adolescence. I was 17 when I realized I have not been using my autism to my advantage and I need to start doing so right now. Before that, I would cover up and hide my autism at all costs because little did I know there was a light in it trying to shine. In other words, I tried being someone I am not, I lied to the world, I lied to myself, and I refused to stay true to myself. After I came to that realization at 17, I knew it was time to establish who Jonah Lindsey Donnell is as an individual person. Thus, this song and this entire album was born.
